Press shaft out of the front brake backing plate.

These are the basic components, in this case, I left the seal in the backing plate as I decided to use a maintenance free sealed bearing. The bearing is pressed in the splined hub and secured with the big circlip.

In case you decide to replace the seal and go old-school the surface of the splined hub needs to be smooth w/o wear marks so the new seal can do its job.

Press the bearing in the splined hub (shown in picture is the early conic style spline used up to late 1953, later models have straight or square splines).

After verifying the front axle is straight press it back in the splined hub.

Secure the assembly with the circlip.
